The Course

The Critical 3 Hours That Could Save a Life

Designed for anyone who wants to be prepared: target and practical shooters, farmers, outdoor workers, and everyday people. Whether you are in the field, at the range, or witness a road accident, this course addresses the most critical emergency you might encounter: catastrophic haemorrhage. Learn to recognise severe bleeding, apply proven tourniquet techniques, and potentially save a life.

In a remote rural setting, the average emergency response time can exceed 20 minutes. A catastrophic bleed, left unmanaged, can cause death in as little as three to five minutes. This course closes that gap, giving you the knowledge, the technique, and the confidence to act decisively when it matters most.

Held at the world-renowned Bisley Shooting Ground in Surrey, the course is delivered by an experienced instructor with a background in emergency trauma care. Class sizes are kept to a maximum of 12 participants to ensure every delegate receives hands-on, personalised instruction.

The Founder

Why This Training Exists

Over many years of shooting and through my work as a firearms dealer at Steelfoot Firearms & Ammunition, I've had the privilege of meeting and shooting alongside many outstanding people, including serving and former police and military personnel. One thing that often stood out was their preparedness: many carried tourniquets and, more importantly, knew how to use them.

That understanding of how critical the first few minutes are after a serious injury is something I know first-hand. Years ago I was involved in a motorcycle accident that severed my femoral artery above the knee. Fortunately I remained conscious and was able to take action immediately. Later, a doctor told me that if I hadn't acted when I did, I would almost certainly have died before help arrived.

The shooting and rural community often operate in remote environments around rifles, hunting knives, chainsaws, vehicles and farm machinery, frequently far from immediate medical assistance. With the growing popularity of the CL55 night stalking licence, more stalkers are now operating in darkness, where response times and visibility are further compromised.

The UK shooting community has an excellent safety record when it comes to firearms accidents. But catastrophic bleeding can happen in many other ways.

This training exists to ensure that if the worst does happen, whether in the field, on an estate, at the range, or even on the roadside, you have the knowledge and confidence to act in those critical first minutes.
